Description

Brookwood is located in the Kawartha Lakes but this is not cottage country. The camp is in Otonabee Region Conservation Authority lands consisting of half open rolling meadow and half forest and swamp area ideal for exploring and pioneering projects. There are at least 100 possible patrol wilderness sites completely separate from each other, no water, no privies, no hydro only nature and the night sounds that it provides. There are many plant and tree species not commonly found in the Kawartha area. Wildlife is abundant with small and large animals to be seen if quiet enough. Winter is of course ideal for tracking and identification of numerous animal tracks.

The two cabins were closed and removed in the Spring of 2018. The camp was closed summer 2019.

Local attractions include the general store in Douro, Serpent Mounds Park National Historic Site of Canada, and Petroglyphs Provincial Park where there are native carvings on boulders (open in summer; admission is charged).
