Description

Scout Camp Otter Lake is located adjacent to the community of Otter Lake, Quebec, on Hughes Lake. It is approx 90 minutes from Ottawa. There is ample lakefront with a dock and a beach. The terrain is a mix of hard and softwood forests with rolling hills and a ravine. The Camp is broken down into five zones, A through E. Structured camp sites are located in Zones B and C. The camp has several different camp sites and a cabin in Zone B, which were first created in the 1950s by the Shawville Scout Group and the camp sites they first created are still used to this day. These five sites are either in the ravine area or on the waterfront and each one is suitable for patrol size groups, that is, 3-4 four-person tents. If you are looking for a larger sites, there are three sites on the hill in Zone C, each suitable for a section to camp in. A field is found in Zone A which has two camp sites on either side which can hold up to 35 tents. Zone D is set aside for wilderness camping to allow youth to develop the survival skills in a true wilderness camping environment. The camp is set-up to allow you to rent what you need at a minimal cost.
