Description
This is a rustic cabin on Hollyburn Ridge, Cypress Mountain. There is sleeping room for 8-10 in the loft and two on the main floor. A wood burning stove provides heat. The cabin is a 20 minute hike from the Cypress cross-country skiing parking. There are limited tenting sites in the forest surrounding the cabin in the summer and opportunities for snow shelter building in the winter.
Hollyburn Ridge is a remarkable wilderness area within minutes of Vancouver. The winter months provide opportunities for snowshoeing, tobogganing, and cross-country and downhill skiing in nearby Cypress Provincial Park. When the snow is gone, excellent hiking trails lead to numerous lakes and the peaks of three mountains. Wild flowers, berries, birds and small animals are around in rich variety.
As of October 2017, the cabin is being renovated and may be open in spring 2018 pending re-installation of the wood stove and some final inside work on the new construction. They are looking for work parties to help finish the cabin.
